am in the process of acquiring a VHF and doing a VHF course, and I believe others are too. Having scoured the net for the best deals, I don\'t seem to see a better budget VHF than the Silva S12. I can recommend Dinghy Supplies in Sutton as being as cheap as any UK discount house for this beast (150 euro) ( 8322 312 is their number). Further, they are a joy to deal with over the phone.
