4th Annual Galway Bay Sea Kayak Race

When: July 7th 2012 Where: Galway Ocean Sports Club, Harbour Enterprise Park, Galway

Registration from 12:00hrs on Saturday July 7th

Race Start Time: Circa 16:00hrs

Race Courses (Laps):

Novice course (approx. 2-3km) classes for singles & doubles

Standard course (8- 10km), expedition sea kayak/touring classes (Separate Male & Female single classes, & Open Double class) suitable for paddlers with reasonable experience of Lv. 2-3 standard

Long Course (15km) Unlimited Racing Class for single Surf ski, Ocean Ski, & Racing sea kayaks (Separate Male & Female single classes, & Open Double class)

Race Entry Fee: €20 per paddler (includes race T-shirt for all competitors)
Kayak rental : Single & Double kayaks available for hire, Rate €25 for single, €35 for double

This year the event is extra special as it will take place on the busiest day of the Volvo Ocean Race festival...starting right after the last in-port race of the Volvo Ocean race. Tens of Thousands of spectators will be there to watch the sailboats on their final journey back to Galway Docks marking the end of 10 months of racing around the Globe. How exciting then that the kayak race will start amid the clamour. Likely to be some spectacle.
