If you have not already done so we would urgently request that you go to the link below and add your name to the thousands who are demanding that ASGARD II be saved.
The conclusions to be drawn from recent events are:
- Irish sail training, as we knew it with ASGARD II, has been condemned to a slow and lingering death. In the present economic circumstances the likelihood of a new ship being built is remote. It should be noted that Minister O\'Dea\'s commitment has stopped well short of that.
- ASGARD II, an outstanding sail-training ship - and a living proof that Ireland can do some things superbly well - is to be abandoned.
- In the opinion of people who deserve to be listened to she is still intact and the cheapest option by far will be to salvage and restore her, using skills and facilities readily available in Ireland.
