Cork Ocean to City Paddle Race 31.05.08

Post by conorsmith » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:49 pm

See link below for race details.

www.oceantocity.com

NOTE, closing date for receipt of application is Wed 21.05.08. Application forms and rules available from the site.

I have a small list of individuals following CATITWE, interested in entering this race for the challenge and fun of it. My contact number is below for those I offered a lift to.

I have spoken to the organisers who have confirmed ALL boats MUST have insurance. If you do not have any or are not covered by your club, the Phoenix Kayak Club can cover all kayakers under a ‘day-membership’ scheme for the fee of €10 per person.

On your application confirm no insurance but accepting Phoenix Club day-membership option. Full payment must be made with application - entry fee PLUS €10.
\"This year a new handicap system for kayakers is based on experience, past results & if you are racing or touring. Kayaks will effectively have their own separate race within the race\"
Clarification or questions can be referred to the committee at info@oceantocity.com. The committee have expressed their hope for as many of us as possible to enter.

Anyone know *roughly* the fastest and slowest times for people in \"ordinary\" sea kayaks last year? What was the distance last year ( I think the race was shortened due to conditions) ?

Just wondering whether some kind person might be willing to lend me a kayak for the race, which I would of course treat with respect! My own (well-used plastic) boat is not the most competitive, so most standard longish glass sea kayaks would be an upgrade. Not looking for a racing kayak as such - that would be a bit too exciting for me.

Please let me know asap if you can help. Thanks!
