puffins on Irelands Eye

Post by bobfromalaska » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:48 pm

Hello all!

Mick and I were paddling around Ireland\'s Eye last weekend and saw loads of puffins around the back. Have there always been puffins there or is this a recent thing?

Ireland\'s Eye holds a small number of breeding pairs of Puffins every year. Numbers flucutate from year to year though usually less than 25 pairs. Nice to see them holding on despite the rodent numbers on the island.

Perhaps the flucutation helps them to scare away the rats.

Fluctutating numbers are scary, as any leaving cert student will tell you
