Trip Update.
Weather prospects are good for the weekend
Rain forecast is clear
Saturday Winds F2-3 Southerly
Sunday Winds F4-6 Southerly
Main trip a circ of Valentia Is. (33km) will proceed Saturday
with Shorter option starting from Portmagee (22km)
Sunday - Paddling from campsite into the inshore area and final plans dependant on wind forecast.
Courtesy of Leon Conway\'s research
the following off-water activities are available in the locality:
* Skelligs Experience Centre, P\'magee
* Skelligs Boat Trips. http://www.skelligstrips.com/about.html
CALL.. Joe Roddy & Sons 00 353(087) 1209924,
Email-ken@skelligstrips.com
* head to Waterville and tip around the rim of Lough Currane. May be be a little more sheltered than the open sea. 15 - 17kms round trip with lots of small and interesting islands within the lake area itself.
* visit to Ballycarberry castle. It\'s an interesting and complex Norman castle situated 3 cables NW of Foughil island on the N side of the Valentia river. A \'no kayaking\' option. Involves a local LW walk along the Valentia river from above the bridge in Cahirsiveen and a return into Cahirsiveen itself. A nice all round 2 hour walk. Not everyone\'s cup of tea though......
* very good restaurant at called O\'Neill\'s- The Point Bar at Renard Pt on the mainland directly across from Knightstown. It\'s actually the island ferry\'s landing point. Proprietor there is Bridie O\'Neill. Great food, service and atmosphere. Family friendly for anyone bringing kids. (066-9472165). They don\'t take bookings - relaxed.

That\'s all Folks - See you Friday.

Looks like a great meet: sorry to miss it!
Enjoy, and keep an eye on IWDG.ie
They have a report of 2 orcas sighted near the Blaskets yesterday (19th). Maybe they will make their way a little further south.

We are really busy at the moment, butI hope to be there. I have been planning to do Valentia Island for ages, so I should really take this opportunity.
