Folks
I am getting enquiries about the weekend, as it is looking like the weather gods might not be in our favour. I will make the final call Wednesday.
We have had to postpone and cancel meets already this year and I am determined this weekend will go ahead either way. While Bofin/Shark are still the preferred option, if we cannot paddle here, there are other more sheltered alternatives nearby and we are still looking to include an offshore camp.
Keep watching.

I am not concerned about the winds. The swell reports for Friday afternoon however, at 10ft, somewhat throws the cat amongst the pigeons, or the shark amongst the kayaks
Final decision on destination tomorrow. Keep packing though, the meet will still go ahead.

Folks
No matter how often I look at any number of different websites, the forecast for the weekend is still not getting any better. Taking a large group on an open crossing with a 10ft swell and too many unknowns would not be a wise thing to do. Perhaps next year...
We will instead base ourselves on Inishlacken between Roundstone and Bertraghboy Bays. With only a short paddle across, we will now meet at 2pm at the car park on Gorteen Bay, load up and paddle across at our leisure. From here you will be able to spend the weekend on the water with any number of options and regardless of what the weather throws our way.
Note, this is a small uninhabitated island with no facilities. Bring what you need, although a paddle up to Roundstone village for anything extra is always an option.
The new location will also make it much easier for any late arrivals or anyone joining us Saturday morning. Only for those coming across on their own late Friday evening or early Saturday morning, park instead at L718 387. Please leave this area for LATE COMERS ONLY!!
See you all Friday.
