I was very sorry to hear of the weekend accident that happened to Niamh McGrath on Clare Island. She fell off a pier, suffering serious head and spinal injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital in Castlebar.
Niamh has long been helping disabled paddlers to enjoy kayaking and was of huge assistance to me last year when I was trying to understand the needs of a disabled student. Her care, knowledge and confidence were fantastic.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Re:Niamh McGrath
Niamh is a great woman, she has given so much to the Irish Outdoor scene and has been an inspiration to outdoor folk always.
Her work in developing ideas for Canoeing / Kayaking for people with special needs has brought a lot of joy to many.
Words cannot express the shock at her accident. I hope that her family will feel the love and support of all the Irish Kayaking scene at this difficult time.
