Foundation, Safety and Rescue Training

Course Dates:
Saturday, 21 September 2013

Cost: £42.50

Course pre-requisites:
• Boat based paddlers need either to hold their 2 Star or be of that ability
• Banks based coaches should be prepared to fully participate in all the relevant aspects of the course
• Be able to swim in normal canoeing clothing
• Be a minimum of 14 years of age
• Having completed a first award is recommended but not a pre-requisite

Course summary:
This is a practical course that aims to provide paddlers with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely in a sheltered environment and to be able to deal with common emergencies.
By the end of the day you will be aware of the safety issues of paddling in a sheltered environment and will have the opportunity to practice and develop the rescue skills necessary to ensure your safety and the safety of others in this environment.
For those of you that are aware of the Canoe Safety Test it has been super seeded by the FSRT.

Who is the course for?
This day is aimed at all paddlers - open boaters, kayakers, sit on top, racing boats, sea kayakers, etc, who paddle in a sheltered environment.
It is a useful award for those paddlers who are working to wards independent paddling.
The FSRT is a pre-requisite for those wishing to complete their Level 1 and 2 Coach as a boat based coach.

What does my course fee include?
The course fee includes kit and equipment, in-course transport, coaching, tea, coffee and a biscuit!
