Sat, 15th Sept. Kayak Support needed for 5 km Rave

Hey All

Our club (Wexford Masters Seaswimming Club) are organising a 5 km swim from Raven\'s Point to Wexford on Saturday 15th September - just for our club members.

We are affiliated with Swim Ireland and have secured 1 RNLI RIB, 1 safety boat (skippered by local fisherman Stephen Kelly), looking to secure a second boat with motor. We have 4 kayakers at the moment, but we are looking for more.

There will probably be about 12 swimmers in the water - all our own club members.

Meet at Crescent Quay at 2pm. Boat leaves at 2.30 pm
If weather is not suitable, we\'ll do the swim on Sunday 16th.
High water is at 6 pm so we\'ll have benefit of incoming tide.
Cut off time is 2 hrs. Any swimmer in the water at the 2 hour stage will be pulled.
The landing point is at the steps opposite Joyce\'s Store.

If you can make it, we would be very grateful. Also, if you could please pass the word around, that would be fab.

Have heard that swim is cancelled as mussel boats are operating in the harbour that day. Contact Maeve for more details.

Hey Billy,

thanks very much for considering kayak support for the event. I\'m only after reading your messages here tonight! Thought there was no new messages on the topic. You\'re right. The swim was cancelled unfortunately - due to marine traffic and water quality.

Thanks for sending the word out. I chedk out the Wexford Ferrybank Canoe Club Facebook page. It\'s fab! Well done! I\'ve left a message on it. There are about 3 of us openwater swimming that are into kayaking - varying levels. It would be great to check you guys out - maybe this Autumn sometime?!
