Hi all.
I just wanted to let everyone know about a major new sea kayaking series that The Irish Times is publishing every Saturday throughout the summer. The Sea Road, charting 15 classic Irish sea kayak routes around Ireland, starts on Saturday May 28th in Go, the Irish Times travel supplement, and then every Saturday until the end of August. It will be written by me, Gary Quinn, and Sean Pierce of Shearwater Sea Kayaking. Sean has selected the routes and I’ll be paddling them and we’ll be writing up our adventures each week. There will be an accompanying blog where I’ll be posting additional pics, videos and audio of the paddles. (www.irishtimes.com/blogs/thesearoad - you can also follow us on Twitter @thesearoad)
The blog will also be a great place to publicise any news you might have so if you know about an event happening on or in the sea this summer, let me know. The series is all about boosting the sport, encouraging new paddlers to get trained and showing people that Ireland is a world-class kayaking destination and I\'m delighted the Irish Times is taking it so seriously.
I’m borrowing a beautiful boat for the paddles: a black and white Tahe Marine Greenland T from dublinbayseakayaks.ie, a new Tahe distributor in Dublin. I’ve had great fun testing it out in our recent big winds and I\'m really happy with it. Check out the pics on the blog: www.irishtimes.com/blogs/thesearoad
Hopefully we’ll see you somewhere along the Sea Road this summer …
