Hi,

The gimp should have no effect on your picasa it is just a free version of Photoshop. As far as I know you can adjust the dimensions of your photos as you upload images from picasa to picasa webalbum (which is free if you have a gmail account).

I find it best to link from picasa or flickr and it generally works much easier. When linking from these host sites you do not have to worry about scale, the photo just works anyway.
I just go to picasa, find my photo, right click, choose \"copy link location\" go to the bulletin board and paste the link in between the IMG and /IMG link so: [ IM G] Link [/I M G] ... no need to worry about numbers.

Is there any way of getting an \'easy to use\' photo section or a photo sharing facility on the site to allow trip photos to be posted? It would mean we could keep a shared visual record of our activities. The current system seems cumbersome... any thoughts???

Conor Murray has a point. It is in our interest to make all this simpler, and above all, standard, so that everyone can do it, and does it identically.
A couple of participants put two images into one posting. Neither Ciaran nor uncle Des said how to do that.
Maurice has a point, he can\'t manage it at all. I have spoken to him. He has genuinely given up. I thought if I could .........
Yet another question, down beside the \"Select Image File to Attach\" there is an option \"Select File to Attach\". What is that about ?
Time to get a 100% comprehensive \"how to\"? We would all benefit.

Hi,

Using picasa webalbums could be an answer to this problem. All it would take is for one person to set up and ISKA@gmail.com or something similar and then they can set up picasa photo albums which members can then collaboratively upload images onto using picasa photo viewer (this really is a very user friendly piece of software with handy buttons that send photos and video to webalbums, facebook, youtube etc witout any fuss).

From there it is easy enough to send these photos to the iska website.
It is a lot more simple to do that to explain in writing.

Folks....

1 - the site needs a rebuild, for which I don\'t currently have spare time. Ideally, we should move it entirely off the ageing Mambo software it uses, to something more modern. But this involves many hours of playing with different systems, deciding which is best for our needs, setting it up, testing it, and migrating as much as possible of the content (and the BB posts) across.
That\'s not happening any time soon, I hope - as only a slump in paying workload would free up that sort of time.
In the meantime, please accept the limitations of the site as it is.

2 - the BB software is pretty good, but could be replaced too. There\'s not a lot of point in doing this, though, unless you also do (1) above. And it\'d involve a fair amount of work too.

3 - for all its limits, the BB we use is actually pretty good - what it does, it does pretty simply. Yes, I know, it doesn\'t do multiple pictures per post, but it does pictures fairly simply. Limitations on picture dimensions and file size are set by me - if you want to post a 2000x2000 image, it won\'t let you. But this means that those without broadband aren\'t impeded by those who have it. There are endless photo bucket sites out there - if you really want to go to town on your images, you\'re better off using those, and linking out to them, as suggested above.

4 - To cover again how to upload an image:
(a) ensure the filename is a single word with no spaces and is a reasonable filesize and dimension.
(b) click the \"choose file\" button in the image row, immediately under the typing window
(c) browse to the image file and click \'open\' - the filename appears in the wee window
(d) then click the [img] button once.

Don\'t try to upload more than one image per posting.

Add more text if you like, then click submit in the usual way.

All the best

Ciaran

I have to agree. I think the bb does exactly what it says on the tin. Photos are easy to link from and not to bad to upload (ok bad but nothing that cant be figured out).
