Symposium Photo Compitition

Hi all,

An outline of the symposium programme will be posted to the Symposium thread in the meets section real soon now.

One of plans is to have a Photo Compitition. Any photo taken from, of, or near your kayak in the last 12 months can be entered by emailing an electronic version to me ( nmadden@eircom.net ) Include a small amount of detail (when, where, what camera, etc).

The pictures will be printed and mounted on a board for everyone to admire as we quaff our cocktails in the Yeats Country. A small group of expert, incorruptible judges will select the winning entry, the prize for which we\'ll make known closer to the date, but will include glory, honour, and the admiration of your paddling peers.

If you don\'t hold with those new fangled digital thingeys, you can send a print by post (4x6 or 5x7) but I can\'t guarantee its safe return.

For now we\'ll take two entries per person, but indicate which is your favourite in case we have only room for one.

So dig out those photos of sloping horizons and send them to me. Any questions or suggestions: post here.

However, my inbox is not yet quite overflowing, so more entries are very welcome.

The comp is not supposed to be too serious, so also consider entering some silly photos.

We have about 20 entries so far, ranging from the Sublime to the Sennen.

More welcome up \'til Wednesday evening.

Thanks to everyone who entered. In the end we had 33 photos to exhibit. The runners up where Alan Horner and Emma Glanville (exaequo). The winning entry was Mike McNally\'s shot from the Burtonport meet that adorns the front page of this site.

Congratulations to the winner what a fantastic picture,
I think it is one of the best sea kayaking pics . I have ever seen from Ireland . Natural , moving , exciting and a little scary .
Well done to the photographer for being able to take their hands off the paddle in those conditions.
