Maybe you could build the battery terminals up with a bit of solder? Could try this to breath some life into an already defunct battery.

Battery packs usually have 3 terminals. Ground, Power and Temperature sense. Sense is used to cut off charging if the battery pack overheats when charging. If charger is functioning it should not charge a battery if it does not connect to this terminal.
More sophisticated battery packs not contain additional circuitry that records the amount of charge in the pack and in this case the 3rd contact is a communication line with the radio.
If you want to bring along the pack to Skerries this Sat, I can check it with a meter.

Dave, I\'m based in Wicklow.
I assume there will be the customary FECKERs mulled wine paddle the following Sat which I usually make. Otherwise give me a call on 087-4111380 and we can organize something.
Conor.

I bought an ICOM M71 last June. It has been in the water on a regular basis since and I rinse it after every trip. No sign of any corosion at this point. I was just reading the ICOM catalogue and it seems the M71 has a higher waterprof standard than the M33 and M31. It has an IPX8 rating, 1.5M depth for 30 minutes versus IPX 7 rating 1M depth for 30 minutes for the M33.
I understand there is a different seal around the battery contacts. It is a bit more expensive, but it may be worth considering for kayaking.
