Just a quick note to anyone who is thinking of getting an S12, the budget VHF from Silva. Silva in general have a good reputation for quality, but....
On my recent week in Donegal, the Silva stopped TX/RX on some channels while continuing to work fine on others.
I took it home, charged it up, and now it won\'t even switch on.
I\'ve had it a couple of years, always in a drybag (though occasional water droplets did form on the inside of the bag, there was never immersion).
So I\'m getting an ICOM.

I had the same problem with mine which was brand new. Silva customer support were very good however. They replaced the radio twice without any quibble (replacement also failed !) however they seemed to have re-branded the radios calling them Nexus instead of Silva I think. Anyway this one has had no problems so far ........
