I was reading Oileain ...
Oileain states \"Rathlin mice are the biggest in Ireland.\"
Is this true? And if so, why? :pinch:

Okay, I\'m formulating a plan.
Big tub of peanut butter, I\'ve heard mice love peanut butter. And smear near the tent of the first person who makes fun of my mouse phobia!
Or bivy bag Carl!

I\'m bringing the dog... It would be funny to see what he would do with a mouse as big as himself...

Re:I was reading Oileain ...
A brown mouse on the Blasket. Perhaps a blue mouse on Rathlin ?http://freespace.virgin.net/paul.charlt ... igblue.htm
Re:I was reading Oileain ...
For a detailed analysis see An Irish Beast Book by James Fairley Blackstaff Press 1975 isbn 0 85640 3148. Now probably only available in Natural History Dept of the various universities. In general the islanders are generally bigger than mainland mice( there are exceptions!) Blasket lads weigh in about the same as Ratlin.!

Big, brown with a scaly tail - maybe thats why its called RATlin Island
Re:I was reading Oileain ...
Okay, I\'m getting a little worried here.
Are these mice really the size of a cat? So would a mouse on Rathlin actually be the size of Scooter?
Why are mice on islands bigger in general than mainland mice?
Curiously yours,
Sarah.
