Now with the Chairpersons hat on....
Thanks Martin and the Cork contigent for there efforts in trying to gain access to Spike Island for us. It took many phone calls and much debate behind the scenes, which is appreciated. ;)

Martin has asked me to post the latest..

Rolfs Hostel in Baltimore is no longer a hostel but a mini hotel so max capcity 28. The hostel in Ballydehob is closed! :(

A meet up venue will not be decided until accommodation can be sorted.

Any of the Cork local paddlers any suggestions for accomodation, camping, hostel etc near at hand?? particularly for Friday Night but also suggestions for Saturday welcome!

I\'m off to the Copelands on Saturday so off line til Sunday evening but please contact Martin on 086 3033406.
(He does not have internet access over a weekend)

The Baltimore Harbour Hotel used to give off season group rates if I recall correctly. It may still be too pricey for some though. Etienne.

There\'s a nice hostel in Skibbereen, which is about a 20 minute drive from Baltimore. Not ideal but just in case nothing else is available. www.russaghmillhostel.com.

There\'s a campsite in Clonakilty which is a 10 minute walk from the nearest pub, probably 20 minutes to be smack in the middle of the town.

It\'s about a 1 minute drive from the roundabout you hit when you first drive into the town.

It would probably make a good enough meet spot on the Saturday morning.

Jennings, Desert House, 023 33331

It\'s clean, has toilets and showers and the camp spot looks over Clonakilty Bay.

Clonakilty is about a 45 minute drive from Baltimore and you pass through it heading to Baltimore if you\'re coming from Cork City.

Meeting Venue Decided

Martin has found us a caravan and camping park that, though not open to the public,it will be opened to ISKA.

It\'s Hide Away Caravan and Camping Park, approx. 1Km from Skibereen, on the Castletownsend Road.
Tel: 028 22254.

Its within walking distance to the pub, and handy for launching in Baltimore, Schull, Lough Hyne etc.

Meeting Place for Saturday morning then will be at this camp site at 10am.

There is a possibility of island camping for Saturday night, so come prepared.

Anything is possible!

Depends on weather, size of group, level of paddlers in the group, etc.

Island hopping out of Baltimore, Schull, Rossbrin....
Cape Clear Island,Fastnet Rock....

Choices will be narrowed down as Friday night, finalised on Saturday morning 10am SHARP at camp site.
