Hacking || Moving the site ?

Post by ciaranclissmann » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:48 pm

Hi all,

as you know the site was hacked over the weekend; I had to reinstall it from scratch this morning.

As an anti-hack measure, I plan to disable the \'Your Patch\' facility, which I don\'t think ever really caught on.

I\'m considering moving the whole site to the Google Groups platform - this would mean the site would be hosted by Google (and they\'d sort out any hacking!) but there would be some advertising. For an example, see www.madmtb.com.

Comments, objections, ideas, etc ?

Ciaran

Can\'t agree more with Sennan, not too sure what exactly is involved in reinstalling from scratch, but it sounds like a lot of work to me, well done Ciaran, we\'d be lost without you.
As regards moving the site, if you think that that\'s the best thing to do, and in the long run will save you hassel and the likes of last weekends mess happening again, then I think it\'s a good plan. What would be involved in moving it? work and money?? if so how much of either?
Once again well done.

The MAD site works well, we\'re looking at moving the EPICmtb site because its hassle having it hosted in Arizona..but we pay very little a year for the domain name and the Hosting..and we\'re going to start advertising on ours anyways..
