Porpoises

Post by P Durnan » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:48 pm

Was out around Creadan Head yesterday 2th Jan and spotted three/ maybe four Habour Porpoises south of the head, in a flooding tide. Never seen them in this area before, must be the time of the year or the poor weather at sea for last few weeks.

Paul
On 23rd Dec we encountered a large POD of Porpoises off Dalkey Island
not exactly sure on numbers but certainly 12-15 animals.

Porpoises are quite common around Dalkey Is. and we would normally see a couple each trip but this time they were swimming around & under us and surfacing within a few metres.

It certainly made the day for us (not to mention the Mulled wine & Mince Pies.)

While sitting here on a clifftop in south west India, eating my daily fruit salad for brekkie and gazing at the warm, inviting waters of the Arabian Sea, I\'ve been entertained by the antics of a friendly pod of dolphins........no dry suit needed here, but then again, there\'s no mince pies or mulled wine. Just sun, sea, surf and a balmy 30 degree heat. It is a hard life.
PS Season\'s Greetings all
