Well done to everyone involved in yesterday\'s event, it was a great success. Thanks to everyone who helped make it such a great day out, and the cooks for feeding us afterwards ;) Would love to see some pictures... Looking forward to next year already.Post edited by: richard, at: 2006/12/31 19:21

Great day out. Those Cork guys must have a direct line to someone. The weather was great, the racing or touring was even better. Then great food and crack afterwards in the \"High Chapperal\". This was a great event and the Dubs will definitely be back next year.
Special thanks to Michael Morris, his wife Jane and Ollie for putting us up and making us feel very welcome.

This an event that everyone should put on their calendar for next year

Ditto, All the above!!!! The wonderful course was eclipsed only by the hospitality we received in the Real Capitol! Thanks very, very much for all. For those that were there, no point in warbling the deserved praises (you saw for yourselves), however, for those who were not......... Get yer new shiny 07 diaries out, flip to the back pages and pencil in Great Island Race!!!

Just to repeat what has already been said...what a fantastic day and great event. No doubt destined to become a classic of the Irish Kayaking scene.

I shall certainly be along again next year, and will recruit some overseas company to add an international flavour the the event.

A big thanks to everyone involved in putting this together, especially to Michael for the effort you must have put in to pull this off.

Hear hear to all the above. Lovely little race!!1 I thought Alan Horner was the weather God after the Blaskets but for Michael & Pat to organise a break in the storms and rain of last weekend exactly the length of the race was nothing short of a miracle!! I never would have thought of a barbecue in December but it was great and very welcome. The route itself was lovely with lots to look at.

Well done and many thanks to Michael and Pat, see you next year.

I\'m glad everyone enjoyed the day, looking at the photo\'s there were plenty of smiling faces. A few pic\'s are now up on the site or just go to

Apologies for delay, still have more to sort through. My only regret about the whole day was that I didn\'t get a chance to paddle, but it\'s up and off the ground now so we\'ll see what we can do for the next one. More ground crew next time :-), I had to sell my soul to the devil to get the that sunshine
