Lunatics needed
Hi all,
have recently quite successfully taken up Mountain biking at night. You need a decent set of lights (about 60 euro) and a mountain bike. But you get an excellent time, out in the fresh air, after work, even though it\'s (nearly) winter. And it\'s surprisingly feasible.
There\'s a club (madmtb.com), they\'re pretty hardcore, but equally I\'m wondering if anyone is interested in just giving it a go for the laugh.
All best

Count me in.
I bought bike 2 years ago and light last year.
My light cost 100 yoyos and is twice as bright as yours, so there.
I\'ve used the bike a little bit but never the light.
What night, boss?

Re:Lunatics needed
Imagine my astonishment at the level of enthusiasm!
Assuming I survive the coming weekend, and subject to confirmation,
how about Thursday evening, 1930, at the entrance to the Ticknock car park on 3 Rock ?
If people prefer, I can do Monday either.

Sorry, Sennen, where\'s killakee ?
Regarding maps I\'d be delighted to lay hands on any.
Mid-term objective - the table track, either to Imaal or to Lug....?

Sorry, but I play tennis Monday and Thursday for the moment, but that may change in future weeks. I aspire to firestry tracks more than the really rough stuff, mostly because of lack of imagination. Clearly you aim higher ?

Re:Lunatics needed
Tuesday is looking like a reasonable day, but not this week, since I\'m in Galway all day.
Killakee aka Hellfire - as it happens, was there on Saturday. Not a bad spot, especially the deciduous woodland across the road (\"Masseys\").
Have done table track and lug a couple of times, usually from Glenmalure (being an East Wicklow lad myself). As you say, wet wet wet in current conditions. Was in Ballinastoe today and on the top of djouce - only met nice walkers.
Ciaran (who hopes to get into a kayak again soon!)

I passed Masseys Wood on Sunday as I struggled up towards Kilakee on a road bike. It was full of trials bike people making an awful racket. Does that not put you off ? It must be awful churned up as well.
Voyagers have a night cycling group and their favourite spot is Ticknock. They meet Tuesdays. You could consider hooking up with them. They\'re not fussy.
DWalsh (who has no particular anxiety to get into a kayak soon, it being out of season).

Having recently been re-converted to cycling into work again after a gap of some15 years - legs are doing fine.
Keen on MTB as well
Tuesday or Thursdays suit best but Wednesdays
are trickier just now.
Have secured a good MTB light for euro60 and rearing to go and try off-road at night well at least forestry tracks.
Can recommend Bray head - great descent......
