Shitties

Post by knotman » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:48 pm

I shit thee not. Came across this on Windguru today. Yep, you guessed it. It\'s in Ireland. Anybody know where?
PS: I see that we have a new weather Bouy M6 on the Met service. Lat/Long seems to indicate well out in Atlantic. Sennen

You\'ll find \"Shitties\" just above \"Skerries\" on www.windguru.com. S
You\'ll find some of the same just below Skerries on certain stages of the tide! s

Hi,

Its a \'nickname\' for windsurfing/surfing spots around Brandon Bay, this one is right outside Spillanes Pub, if you have seen it at low tide you might understand the name.

Others include Mossies, Dumps etc.

Richard.

I can think of nothing more appropriate than that the area outside Spillane\'s Bar is named after the local Shitties.
My pop-top campervan was attacked last month in the carpark of the same bar by the same Shitties, while a pint and a sandwich was being had by a surfer inside. A knife cut a two foot slash in the canvas in the top which, innocently, believing this was an ordinary spot in rural Ireland, was left up. Reaching down from the slash, they opened the door and got in. Apart from the robbery of bits and pieces, fixing the two foot slash and the sheer feeling of invasion still hurts.
I agree that Spillane\'s Bar is strictly for Shitties. Keep away is my advice. It isn\'t only the local surf spot at LW that should be termed Shitties.

Wow! Sorry to hear about that. David, i Have some of the same heavy duty canvas that is on your van. If it can be of use in a more permanent repair, your welcome to it. Perhaps a line to Lupton at Camper Club might put others on their guard. Maurice.

Thanks Maurice.
I butchered a surplus flap to achieve a patch and it has worked quite well.
I agree I\'ll alert the caravan club to the Shitties that might attack unsuspecting vans outside Spillane\'s Pub so that people will know to keep away from the area as unsafe.
