Skerries Winter Series Sun Oct 8th

The Skerries Winter Series starts off this weekend.Weather changing just in time!
I have had to move some of the series to Sunday while others remain on Saturday. See under East Coast calendar for dates.I am still out of action but will be around and will take all phone calls etc. Try Des for rent of kayaks. These one day ISKA events are open to all present,past and lapsed members and I will take €20 from anyone who wants to rejoin! Still the best value organisation in country.
Please keep an eye on the BB regarding weather postings later in week. I hope to have both an inshore and offshore led trip and would appreciate any help from people in this regard.
Usual meet time of 1000hrs at the RNLI slipway at Skerries.

With big winds....south to south east force6/7 forecast for tomorrow, the offshore paddle (which I had volunteered to lead) may be in doubt but there should be plenty of inshore options around the islands so plan is as Sean said earlier in week.....meet RNLI slipway 1000hrs.

Fair play to Eileen and her shrinking band of merry men who went to the Rock yesterday. The more wimpy/broken-necked/cautious of us stayed inshore and still had quite an interesting paddle. Congrats to Sonya Ewe n on her first group lead - nice day for it!

We were approximately 12 strong on the day.
After paddling out to Particks together, Eileen Murphy took herself and four others out to Rockabill while Sonya led the \"inshore group\".

The outwards trip to Rockabill was much easier than feared. However after a brief lunch break of only 30 mins, conditions did \"build\" slightly. Launching into our boats again made for a little excitement, rounding of the \"Bill\" ratcheted up the adrenaline even more, and speaking for myself the journey back to Paddys in strong South East winds and an ebbing tide was strenuous but without incident.

On returning to Paddys we were delighted to regroup with the inshore paddlers whom we had not seen for 2 or more hours, who led us on a (further strenuous) trip through some decent surf after which we made a brisk return together to Skerries on the tail wind.
