re painting paddle blades

Post by busterick » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:47 pm

have a set of lendal powermaster blades in powder blue colour. i am in the process of putting them on a new shaft and was thinking of changing the colour to black. Anyone know what type of paint to use?

Any radiator paint should do the job either

You can have any colour so long its NOT BLACK.
If I was painting my blades I\'d use it as an oportunity to make myself more visible.

Sorry - for my \"Black\" outburst - just could not resist...

Ciaran\'s last post - it\'s true - visibility is good
Normally I would purchase some reflective tape (Marine Quality)
and stick some on the back of paddle blades.

Acrylic paints should work well on a clean synthetic surface
you would have to prepare with white spirits - but be careful it does not react with the resins of the blades.
You will have a visual problem with scrapes over time.

Assuming they are N12 (nylon), how about trying to dye them with a suitable nylon dye? I\'d have thought most paints would just chip off.

Getting them in a washing machine to do the dying will be interesting, so perhaps best to choose a cold-water dye - - - -

(Dylon is, I think, one such dye).

Mike.
