The meet will be based in a field across the road from Lahiff‘s Caravan and Camping Park, here:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/5pNrk5CXxmdDfNWPA?g_st=ic
No need to contact them directly unless you’re planning to stay more than fri/sat. No electric hookup. I’ll post the price once I confirm it.
Fires allowed if you bring a leave-no-trace fire-pit.
Toilets and showers are across a public road which can be busy, so please take care.

The forecast is a bit mixed, so we may have to travel some distance to launch points.

If planning to attend please register, the link is above.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Fiona

The forecast is changing every hour, so too soon to make decisions about where we‘ll paddle. But we are happy to go ahead, we have plenty of options ranging from Inisheer to the Cliffs to various estuary paddles.

Likely we’ll decide at the campsite on Friday evening/ Sat morning.

Keep an eye here in case there are further updates.

See you all there.

Warm mostly sunny weekend but not ideal for paddling. Still looking like f4 westerlies Sat and 1.8 swell. Which rules out many great Atlantic paddles, but there are still interesting options available.
Most likely options are
- Kilbaha to Carrigaholt. 18k. Car shuttle and on the water around 1pm as LW at 2pm. Explore cliffs around Kilbaha, then up to carrigaholt with the help of wind and flooding tide.
- Cappa to Scattery Island and across to Carrigafoyle Castle and Battery. 14k. Limited parking. Later start might suit here too for the crossing.
- Fallback if conditions worsen: Fergus estuary : Kildysart, Canon island and Beeves lighthouse. Would have to decide this Fri evening as needs an earlier start, leaving campsite by 9am. 18k-ish. Bring sunscreen and more snacks, might need to laze around on an island waiting for the tide to bring enough water to get back in to Kildysart.
- wet session rescue practice on Sunday
- Loop Head e-bike hire :)

All subject to change depending on the wind.

Would conditions be right for the tide race at Scattery?

Cool.

I have to make tracks early enough on Sunday, so maybe an hour or so playing there before hitting the road.
