Aran Islands Meet Clare/Galway -Weekend 25thAugust 2018
How's everyone ?
Thanks a million to Margaret and her minions for organising a superb meet in Connemara.
The turnout for the ISKA meets so far this calendar year has been exceptional....having such great weather no doubt helps.
So onto the next one !
So this is the plan of action ( weather dependant)
Friday 17th Aug -
Peer Paddle to the iconic Cliffs of Moher down to Haggs Head. Stop for some tea and a stretch and back to Doolin taking in Stacks Arches Caves with an opportunity for a dip beneath the cliffs.
Meet 1300hrs Doolin Pier. On water for 1400hrs.
Spend night in Doolin enjoy the pubs and the craic and the music. Two campsites to choose from ; €12 per night.

There will be a fallback in case of bad weather.

I'll be there. I'll do the peer paddle on Friday. Does the camping on Friday need to be prebooked?

Hi Rosie,
Probably wouldn't do any harm to book as it's peak season. Both campsites have a lot of capacity so accommodating us shouldn't be a problem. Nagles site is the closest to the pier.
http://www.doolincamping.com
You could leave your car at the campsite which will save you a few euro as the carpark at the pier is pay and display and is permanently supervised.
Campers can park at pier if they so wish. Pay and display though. It's not expensive for weekend and machine takes coins and credit cards. Normally €4 suffices for weekend.
For those doing Friday paddle you can drive onto slip and drop off your boat then park. Ensure boats are kept to the side of the slip as it's the same slip coastguard use to launch so must be kept clear.
Bring refreshments with you. There is a safe landing spot beneath the cliffs that we will hopefully be able to land on for a stretch and some food and drink.
Doolin has plenty of places for food and drink but no shop. There is a surprisingly good fish and chip trailer at the pier if you arrive hungry.
More details as we get closer to date.
