On the Last Iniskeas Meet we had 36 Paddlers
On average 2 paddlers per vehicle.
On Average travelling 5-6 hours and burning about 50litres fuel
Fuel @ Euro 1.10/litre = Euro 55 x 18 vehicles = Euro 990
Multiply by 10 trips................euro 9900 for a year !!!
If fuel costs rise to Euro 1.50/litre
paddlers will spend collectively
about Euro 1350 per ISKA meet and euro 13,500 per Year
.....BIG OUCH!
If we car share more and get an average of 3 paddlers per car
then we could knock about 30% off our fuel consumption
For the future - Are Mini Buses and trailers and god forbid more organising going to have to be the norm.......

Thought for the day - A Scary Sum !
Re:Thought for the day - A Scary Sum !
what about all those tow-ropes ? Fan tows would be out but in line tows would be ok for cars. Tour De France stats indicate a formidale saving in energy output when slipstreaming ! One might even recover the cost of the tow rope if only three meets were attended! Proper knots would of course have to be used, as jammed knots would have to be cut open......
