Night Paddle/Nav - Friday Evening 20th Jan - Shannon Estuary

Post by conorsmith » Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:24 pm

Night paddle with navigation this coming Friday. Meeting at Crovraghan Pier 6pm, gone for 6.30pm.

The objective is to navigate in around the Estuary islands, stopping off along the way for a coffee/snack on one of the beeches. With little or no breeze, it will still be very cold, you need to dress appropriately, bringing the correct equipment. Map (we have spares), compass, head torches and preferably glow sticks on your boat. Expect to be out for at least 2 hours.

Post if you are coming.
Keep an eye on the forum in case we need to delay the start time.

Folks, a miserable evening with very few interested. Can’t understand why….

We will postpone for a clearer night.

I’d be interested in feb, have you done much in the estuary? Some current along there.

Paddle it regularly during the winter months whenever the seas are high. It has been a while since we last had a night nav but yes, we have had many in the area. In and out across the islands is great at night to test your navigation skills.

Hope to organise something soon and will post in advance.
