Presidential Election
Apparently there is a maritime flavor to the track record of one of the challengers that may influence those who go to sea in small boats. Peter Casey was once embroiled in a major controversy when as elected Mayor of a small seaside American town he over-ruled the closing of the local beach on a ho...

Re: RTE Great lighthouses of Ireland.
What a program! And apparently its a series, so more coming. Thanks to all concerned in the warning. Everyone, 6.30 next Sunday. For those who watched, a detail, all children were taught semaphore in (up to ?) the early 1950s. I was quite good at it one time, but not anymore. Use it or lose it. It w...

Re: Icom-M71 VHF Radio
Apologies.
I never got to say, taken aback by Martin and Knotman, that JohnD was 100% 0n the ball, that CH Marine in Cork could not have been quicker easier and nicer to deal with, and my radio is back in action as we speak.
Good call, thanks John,

Re: Icom-M71 VHF Radio

They both have the same message, that AA batteries fare better than ICOM batteries, but look, I've jumped. And how anyway do...

Re: Icom-M71 VHF Radio
Thanks John, very helpful. The trick is to do the needful before it inevitably goes on the back burner, the natural order of things.

Icom-M71 VHF Radio
Not having used the above for ages but having the best of intentions (as always) on recent holidays, I put it on the charge and got a flashing orange light, which it isn't supposed to do. Long story short it didn't get to get used. Before I buy a new battery (fingers crossed) can anyone advise is th...
