Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
All, At the end of the day, only the membership at large will decide. I would propose that a healthy and frank exchange of views on this subject take place at the Symposium, with the proposed insurance policy laid out in full for inspection by the members, so we all know exactly what we're voting on...

Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
Insurance? Specifically the model that the ECSKC use as a template for any prospective ISKA cover. In any incident it is almost certain that insurance company would seek the advice of "experts" in the field. Whether you like it or not, the perceived experts in this jurisdiction are Canoein...

Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
Tom, "If a person with paddling ability takes another person with lesser paddling ability on a sea kayaking trip in conditions that were not favourable or became unfavourable for the lesser paddler and there was a serious accident or a drowning who is to blame?" This scenario wouldn't take...

Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
Alan, Thanks for your measured reply. I'd say the most significant thing you've said is ISKA ready for insurance. Personally my view is we're not. As Conor has already stated, he will not be able to lead or organise trips under an insurance regime. Neither will anyone else on the west coast. Leaders...

Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
Eddie & Alan, Please provide the following info in order to further the debate. All I'm hearing is "insurance is positive etc etc". Can either of you flesh it out a bit please? What is required by the insurance company in order to make sure club trips are covered? What is the leader ra...

Re: ISKA Committee Meet & Email
Alan, Again, some very valid points. I disagree with this tho "Talk about insurance restricting what we do Is in my opinion - complete rubbish". A case in point, Inishlackan West Coast meet last summer, over 40 paddlers. To the best of my knowledge, no instructors. Would the insurance cove...
