Coastwatch Survey

Post by Mary Butler » Fri Sep 08, 2017 9:45 pm

Maybe some ISKA members might like to participate in this years survey. It is easy to do and you might find something unusual but your effort will help in protecting the seas and shores of our coast .....
It’s that time of year!! We hope you can participate in the Coastwatch Survey again (this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Coastwatch Autumn Survey!). As usual, it is taking place from September 15th to October 15th and you can start booking your survey sites now:

Nearly all the materials are already available at . We’ve made some small changes to the questionnaire, so please have a quick look at the guide notes (that will be uploaded next week).

We are hoping you will be able to go out early and possibly even often – to cover several survey units, or introduce friends to discover the beauty, wrinkles and sores of their shores.

Make sure you input your data on-line or send it by post before the 30th of October. This year we have a new feature on the website for submitting photos that will hopefully make it easier.

Remember that there are some extra things you could do while you are out on survey (regarding harbour waste management and seaweeds). For instance, the pilot phase of the Coastwatch Micro-litter app is over. Thank you very much to those of you who helped to test it. You can find the final version of the app along with some basic instructions at . Feedback on the app will be welcomed.

Thank you very much,

Karin Dubsky and the Coastwatch Team
