Killarney National Park??

I am traveling from the US this summer and will be around Killarney with 3 couples. We are interested in kayaking but 3 of the group are new comers to the sport and do not want to try the wonderful coastline of Ireland. I was wondering what could be recommended in lakes or rivers in the south west near Killarney?
