The Voice Behind the Man

Great interview with David Walsh on the John Murray show, putting him in his places. Occasioned by the sale of Duvillaun Beg on Tuesday. Vintage DW and the best radio I’ve heard in a long while. Ar fheabhas, Daithi. Link to podcast: http://podcast.rasset.ie/podcasts/audio/2014/0915/20140915_rteradio...

Re:Inishkea Nationwide

<t>Thanks for posting this Sennen. I was on Inishkea South that day (green jacket on the beach as the boat pulls in - scouting out the new bothy, Conor!) <br/> <br/> My first time on the island, travelling on the same boat that brought the RTE crew, but all the way down the coast from Broadhaven and...

Achill and Environs

<t>Hi<br/> <br/> I\'m on holiday on Achill till the August bank holiday, with boat. Looking at peer paddle day trip options - short or long, anything up to 30k or so, which could include Clare Is, Achill Head, Bills Rocks, Duvillaun etc., depending on the usual. <br/> <br/> Text/call 086 608 0661.<b...

Re:Binoculars

I can recommend Opticron - quality optics and construction without paying silly money for a brand name. The have waterproof compacts ranging from £55 to £300 at www.opticron.co.uk.

Re:Proper Phizz Quizz 14

Having avoided A, I\'ll consider myself excluded from circle squarers and flat earthers. Questions are good - if they\'re too careful the fun may be knocked out of it.

Re:Proper Phizz Quizz 14

<t>Sennen<br/> <br/> Good question and answer, and I’d not made the connection to waves and slamming. Having composed the comments below, but gotten delayed in publication, I submit a late application!<br/> <br/> My first thoughts were with Avid/Tee/John - the horizontal and vertical velocities of t...

Re:Proper Phizz Quizz 14

<r>Dave\'s real world waterfall has been bothering me. A kayak doesn\'t just launch like a shot from a cannon over a waterfall. It is propelled over the edge and rotates in contact with the water. There is a case to be made that the velocity of the water rotates over the edge and imparts a vertical ...
