Getting closer - couple of days left in it !

This looks like a tragic end. Andrew was only 75km from Milford sound, after paddling 1600km solo in 28 days, and a day from landfall when he went missing. Its now been 48 hours since his empty kayak was sighted.

This is dreadful. I was vaguely following this, with the usual combination of envy and ridicule that accompanies serious expeditions like this.

I keep thinking of him and it definitely leaves a sick feeling in the gut, and it\'s hard not to wonder what actually happened him, the horror doesn\'t bear thinking about. From what I read of him it was certainly achievable. Would it be in order to email words of support to his family on behalf of the Irish Sea Kayaking Association?

I know, hard to imagine. I guess that after 28 days something simple can just trip you up. He had weathered far worse seas, and done numerous rolls and re-entrys, and the boat was still seaworthy. He proved that it was eminently possible.

Rather than his poor family, Sonja\'s suggestion might be better directed at his kayaking club.
