Campsite
Chestnutt Holiday Park https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jey1LrtaZZxvYVjB6
Tent or van pitch cost: GBP 20/night. There is no need to contact the site to book in, just use the booking form so I can know how many are coming.
6 pitches have electrical hookup.
We have our own field with 3 showers and toilets each for men and women. Shower tokens (not free) are available from reception.
The campsite facilities such as shop and café will be closed that weekend.
It is a 300m walk to the shoreline from the campsite.
There is a car charging point by reception. Car charging is not allowed from campervan hook up.
Sauna: I have arranged a sauna to be onsite for the Saturday afternoon and evening. Cost is £10 or €12. Ideally have cash but Revolut and Paypal will be accepted.
A firepit will be provided. If you can bring some wood, that would be great.
Please bring your own food. I have not arranged a BBQ. You are allowed your own BBQ, just don’t damage the grass.
Shop:
Mc Veighs Costcutters , 6 minute drive towards Kilkeel
General plan
Be aware of shipping. I will contact Greenore and Warrenpoint ports for information each day.
The inward flood starts between 920 and 1020 and the outward ebb around 1400 on the Saturday and Sunday.
For people who want to play in the tidal streams, there will be good conditions around Haulbowline Lighthouse.
There also will be a trip heading west with the inflowing flood, crossing to the southern shore at Carlingford for the food carts and hitching a ride back out with the start of the ebb.
If anyone doesn’t want any moving water, I am also planning another trip further in the lough.
The number of kayakers and skills mix will determine what trips will be available on the weekend and all help will be greatly appreciated.
