ISKA Special Mini Skills Weekend
Posted: Wed Jul 02, 2014 3:49 pm
Hi all,
We have organised a mini ISKA meet for July 19th/20th on Clare Island.
As kayakers we spend a lot of time on the sea, landing on various types of seashore - rocky, sandy, etc. We walk many islands and see many different birds at sea and on the beaches. Some of us would like to have a better understanding of the coastal environment we enjoy so much and for this reason ISKA has organised a special mini meet. The weekend will include workshops on identifying birds, flora, edible seaweeds and rockpool exploration. I have cajoled Dave Walsh, Mary Butler and Trish Byrne into sharing thier expertise for the weekend. The weekend will take place on Clare Island itself, we will meet on Saturday morning and paddle across together.
There is a campsite right beside the harbour ( where the ferry lands ), I will check details and post more information nearer the time. We hope to provide identification charts and a book about the Ireland's seashore.
There is a small cost of 15 euro for the weekend. Meals and the campsite will be additional and will be your own responsibility. It would be useful for us to have an idea of numbers for photocopying, etc, purposes so if interested can you please post here.
Any questions or queries can also be posted here.
Trish
