East Coast Dolphins

I had the rare pleasure of paddling with two dolphins last Tuesday off the South end of Bray seafront. They were friendly and curious, swimming under an alongside my boat, which was both exhilarating and unnerving at the same time. The conditions at the time were flat calm and the pair (or possibly three, I\'m not certain) stayed for about three hours in all, venturing close to the shore and interacting with those of us lucky enough to have a means to get on the water (a couple of other paddlers and a bloke on a surfboard). They have just reappeared this morning about an hour ago, again swimming very close to the shore and have headed off northwards.
I know dolphins have been spotted last week by other paddlers a bit further up the coast, Sandycove I think, and they were spotted in Greystones too by people doing the cliff walk. I am interested to find out what is bringing and keeping them around and will be contacting the Irish whale and dolphin group to report the sightings.
What a treat to have these amazing creatures gracing us with their presence. Happy sightings to all you East coast padders.
