Is it possible to get a comprehensive list of paddle sensitive areas in Ireland and areas with paddle restrictions, with details of where to seek permisions if required?
It would seem to make sense that if such a list could be created with online access for reference, that it may even help reduce problems such as the, ‘paddling in easturies’ scandal of recent times. I would be interested in knowing about harbour restrictions, the guidlines of SPA’s, national parks rules, paddling on reservoirs, access rights for rivers and any other sea related restrictions.
And all before I make some headline in the papers which would read something like - Sea kayaker Found in Drinking Water -

You can paddle in Blessington. It is perfectly legal, but you must first apply to the ESB for a canoe license. I think it costs c. E20 - 40. There is a warden who is pretty sharp if you don\'t display a license number, though he is mainly concerned about the use of PFDs and fishing.
