Following on from Sara\'s reference to IWDG (Irish Whale and Dolphin Group), the National Parks and Wildlife Service have been surveying porpoises in our coastal waters -including Dublin Bay. They are particularily interested in sightings south of this along the east coast- Bray, Greystones, Wicklow. Sightings can be reported on-line at iwdg.ie

IWDG Casual Sightings Scheme
This scheme enables people who spot a cetacean, or cetaceans, to report their sighting to IWDG where it is logged onto a national database. This helps us discover the number of cetacean species in Irish waters, their distribution and density.
If you see cetaceans on a regular basis and would like to record these sightings, then you can obtain a sightings record form (which are easy to fill out) from the IWDG by e-mailing us or report it on our online sightings report form (be sure to leave a contact telephone number or address).
