The CATITWE will be held again at Streamstown just north of Clifden in Connemara on May 10 and 11. It is aimed at people who have some experience of Kayaking mainly other paddlers who have yet to try sea kayaking. There will be led trips and sessions to suit the groups abilities and rescue and rolling sessions for those that want.
For others, well experienced paddlers it is an area of fantastic paddling including a nice little tidal race if the breeze is right.
I would appreciate if any lev4s and lev5s are comming that they would contact me and we can arrange coverso the same few people are not tied up
all the time.
This is a grand spot for families with nice private beaches so even if you dont paddle it is a great place to chill.
I am awaiting confirmation of a few things such as the availability of boats for hire etc and will post a fuller notice by the end of the week.

Hi Martin,

Do we need to register or anything, or just show up?

Thanks,

Mike.

Update;
Streamstown C.A.T.I.T.W.E. will be held as per previous message.
It is a weekend aimed at people who can paddle a bit and are interested in trying SEA KAYAKING. You do not need to be able to paddle the Aran islands but be able to keep your bum in a boat. River paddlers who would like a taste of something different are most welcome. Any catitwe trip will be led but all others will be self organising.
Personal paddling gear wetsuits etc will not be provided.
I suggest you bring a change of clothing and food and a flask for hot drinks.
Any medical conditions that may affect your paddling we do need to know about. We dont need a history but let the leader know.
There is no need to register or to be a member of ISKA.
I would appreciate if any non members would contact me before turning up as it will enable us to plan for the event.
The Campsite at Streamstown is the venue and there is something in this area for all levels. For the more experienced paddlers Boffin and back is a classic or Take in Friar, High and Cruach islands. Lesser tripchallenging trips to Turbot or Turk or coastal trips. For Families that want to stay on shore there are beaches on the campsite and plenty of open spaces for the little darlings to run wild and burn off the excess energy.
I am waiting to hear from other boat hiring companies about the availability of equipment hire. I know Deep Blue / Des Keaney in Dublin area have confirmed that they have a few so it is on a first come first seved basis. As soon as i get any news on this I will post it.
There are new facilities being built and I am assured that all will be ready for us.
This is a weekend aimed at enjoying seakayaking at its bestinc wildlife, fishing and for those that want low level instruction in rescues ,rolling;and other strokes and skills. The evenings usually produce entertainment some would say lunacy but a good time is had by all. If you have a skill or a talent Simon Cowell and those other judges will not be here so leave your dignity at home, give it a lash and have a great time.

Watch for further info.
