I will split them into different categories so that members can read/react/debate/comment etc.

Okay, my very last comment because people are bound to be sick of reading them by now and I really have to do some actual work!

It seems that every year we don\'t have enough time for the Open Forum at the Symposium. We always have to finish it up quickly because the guest speaker needs to have the floor. (And rightly so.)

Would it be an idea to have the Open Forum at a different time during the Symposium weekend so that we can have more time and not be so rushed?

Just a thought.

Personally, I think that the bulletin board is actually quite a successful medium for the sort of thing that the open forum discusses. While of course not everyone has access to the Net, nor accesses the BB very often, quite a lot of paddlers do. The discussions about boat seaworthiness and children on ISKA paddles was primarily online, and I think many other topics can be discussed here too (as indeed is underway).

On advantage the BB has over the Forum is that people think before they write (usually!) and there\'s a record, so the conversation can be reviewed.

That said, I\'d personally (aren\'t we all very personal) agree with Sarah about the open forum; do we really need a keynote speaker at the symposium.... there\'s usually plenty of slides for the powerpoint hounds over the weekend.
