RNLI Statistics

A question was asked at the RNLI Flares talk as to how many rescues by RNLI involved kayakers.
Malcolm Huston, the course provider from RNLI did some research since then and found out that 21 incidences involved \'canoeists\'. The statistics do not indicate the specfic type of craft and could include sit-on-tops.
There were no phone calls received after the flare demo but this was put down to the fact that local people are aware that the location used is at the RNLI station. Also, as we were onshore, the handhelds and smoke flares were not visible.
Malcolm will prepare a list of flares that RNLI would consider practical for a sea kayaker and details will be posted to the bulletin board.Post edited by: mary, at: 2007/11/20 05:08
