WEEKEND 1
09-11Aug
Venue: Lough Ree ( Galey Bay Camping. Eircode: F42 RP20)
Accommodation: Van and/or tent camping in a commercial campsite.
Friday: 1-day tutor training*. see details below
Sat-Sun: 2-day rolling workshop.
Cost: €250 for 2 days for students. €250 for 3 days for tutors. Camping accommodation is additional (cost TBD).

*Notes re Tutor Training:
The tutor option is intended for paddlers who want to further advance their own skills and knowledge, and share that knowledge with other Irish sea kayakers to improve the standard of Greenland rolling in the Irish sea kayaking community. Tutor candidates ideally will be sea kayakers who are already competent Greenland rollers, or experienced sea kayakers and leaders with some Greenland paddling experience who are willing and able to learn and coach others.
Anyone who registers as a tutor for the weekend must attend all 3 days (Fri-Sun). On the Friday they will be taught by James and Eiichi on their particular method of rolling and teaching the roll. On the Saturday and Sunday the tutors will take a lead role in a trio of 1 tutor + 2 students who will work together as a team led by the tutor to learn and apply James and Eiichi's methods to develop and improve their Greenland rolling. James and Eiichi will move amongst the trios to supervise and offer advice and support to tutors and students.
There is no formal qualification or certificate issued to tutors.
The benefits to participating as a tutor include:
- Advancement of personal skills in Greenland rolling and teaching Greenland rolling.
- A day of focused instruction from James and Eiichi on their method of Greenland rolling and teaching Greenland rolling.
- 2 days of actively teaching Greenland rolling under the supervision and guidance of James and Eiichi. This will further advance personal competence and confidence in teaching of Greenland rolling.
- A skill that can be brought back to clubs and Irish sea kayaking.
