KIS France from 8th. to 16th . August 2024

Post by Philipp BZH » Fri Mar 08, 2024 3:45 pm

KIS means : Kayak Iroise Semaine
Iroise is the name of the sea north west of Brest (Brittany) for its turquoise color.
Semaine means "Week".

the 3 letters form a name easy to remember, and suggestive
the start day is Wednesday in order to have neap tides and alows to continue with the CKmer meeting in south Brittany.

so it is a meeting in Lampaul Plouarzel were we have already organized 3 BKF (Brittany Kayak Festival) in 2011 , 2013, 2017 . During the 2 last one, a group of Irish padlers have come twice.

We have a large camp exclusive for us, a direct beach, and a sport hall.
It starts with the wlecome day by a Fest Noz (traditional breton music with live music) where the kayakers get a meal, and a waterproof bag "KIS" and a Marine map.
on the day after security is the purpose: theory on the morning speeches (French, English, Spanish) practise savety acts on the afternoon, whatched by the safety authorities.
the six following days will alow mall groups to visit areas, direct from our beach, including overnight in Molène island, or with a car transfer to the ABER zone (rias) or to the Brest bay or bottle neck with historical defence places.
The last day we serve a organic pig with vegetable.

we have already some some Spanish, German, Belgian, gentle UK padlers and south France padllers .

Hello

4 Irish paddlers have already booked.

one paddler from CADIX (South Spain) will come back after 2017 about what he wrote his good memories of it ! Cadix> KIS =1940 km

if you can't load your car in the Ferry, you may load your kayak on its trolley for a bike fare. Once in Roscoff you can reach the KISS in 4 days, using the tide curents.
For the come back, probably one of your new friends will transport you to Roscoff in 1 hour.

Near the Roscoff fery port Bloscon, Traon Erc'h is the closer beach(South). Or in the fishing port (North) a bit longer walking but 1 mile less paddling.

Nevertheless don't be late to book !

Durring the meeting, in the sport hall, 3 plywood kayaks will be build by 3 makers and 3 helpers.

Today one place of maker is still available.

The KIS France event from August 8th to 16th, 2024, looks like a great opportunity for kayaking enthusiasts.
