Oileáin refashioned, refunctioning

Post by DaveWalsh » Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:15 pm

I discovered the hard way what an “SSL certificate” does when Oileáin sales went over a cliff (to the extent that that is actually possible). Apparently anyone accessing the site was told, since last March 2022, that “here be dragons”. It got discovered a month ago and immediately fixed.

The bigger news is that the new www.oileain.org website, completely revamped by Eoin Flood, late of this parish, is now “live”. I have to tidy it up over the next few weeks, but the main job is done and it sings and dances as once it did long long ago.

In particular the “soft” Oileáin on-line is bang up to date with 609 islands, the latest supplied by Sean Pierce, with all its Grid-References (almost 2,000 of them) hyperlinked to an overhead camera. One click and you zoom in on the beach, headland, pier or whatever, again all the work of Eoin Flood, Square Star Media, to whom I will be eternally grateful.
