Loop Head Clare meet August 21/22 (was 14th/15th)

Hi all, the meet had been planned for Kerry on August 7th.
Now moved to the following week 14th/15th.
Also relocated from Kerry to Loop Head peninsula, Co. Clare.
We figure it would be very difficult to find campsites or wild camp
options in Kerry at the height of the staycationer season, but we have promises of fields in Clare.😀

Apologies for the change, I hope it doesn’t upset people’s plans too much.

Shouldn’t be any issue with numbers, but will be looking for registration upfront as usual.
More details closer to the time.

Registration is open now for this meet.
We will be camping on the Loop head peninsula.
€10/person/night camping, €20/person/night camper

Lots of great paddles possible, whether it’s around the loop, Scattery Island, anywhere along the coastline north or south of Kilkee or possibly even across to Kerry. Start offering sacrifices to your weather gods!

The weather is really going against us this weekend, f4-6 with loads of rain, really limits our chances of a decent paddle - and no craic around a campfire in the rain.
So we’re going to defer a week and hope for better luck.
Sorry about this - maybe ye’ll be able to find a weather window and do local paddles. And hope to see you all in Clare next weekend instead.

Hi,
I met you guys off nuns beach in Ballybunion on this trip and was talking to Liz (green boat) and Ruth (pink hat, Greenland paddle)...

I'm interested in starting sea kayaking, but I'm looking for people in the Kerry area who I would be able to paddle with/learn from. I'm going to follow Ruth's advice and try a course in Shearwater in Dublin, hopefully before Christmas. I was hoping to find some local paddlers in the meantime.

So far I only have a sit on top Kayak, but if I can find some locals interested in paddling I'd be more comfortable making the investment in a proper sea kayak.

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot on the forum, but I thought someone who was on the trip might see it.

Cheers

Kevin

P.S. also met a fella called Colly on men's beach Ballybunion and was talking to him about his Greenland paddle. Keep having brushes with paddlers!
