ISKA Symposium 2019 Donegal

This year’s Symposium will take place in north-west Donegal on 4th/5th/6th October. A wonderful coastline peppered with islands awaits us with spectacular and varied paddling options for both good and bad weather!

The Symposium will be centred around the Errigal An Oige Hostel. We’ve also sourced a few self-catering houses nearby and have done a deal with a nearby hotel Ostan Loch Altan for those who prefer a bit more comfort. The hostel has shared rooms and there are a limited number of double rooms available in houses and also in the hotel. If you want a double just book as two singles - there's a space later on the form where you can say who you want to share with and if a double is needed and we should be able to accommodate you. Sat night’s dinner will be a short walk down the road from the hostel in the Dunlewey centre. There’ll be a shuttle Saturday night to bring people to/from the hotel (12mins away), it will also pick up / drop off from the hostel and houses if it’s raining.

We have the usual mix of full-day & half day paddles at various levels from L2 up, incident mgmt., rolling, Greenland paddle tryout, etc – more details closer to the event.

This year we’re offering an early bird discount to members. As there’s a limited amount of each accommodation type, to increase your chances of getting your preference, get your booking in early!
It'll also really help with the planning if we get bookings and payment in early. Don't worry if you have to cancel for some reason we'll refund you - details are on the form.

The Booking form is now online at:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... A/viewform
I’ll send out a form shortly for anyone who wants to print and fill out a paper copy.
Post any questions here or email iskasymp@gmail.com

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Fiona (on behalf of the ISKA committee)

PS: If you haven't booked yet or have filled in the form, but not yet paid, take note that we'll have to finalise hotel and house bookings by 28th Sept, so will be releasing any reserved accommodation that's not paid for by then and are likely to only have limited hostel accommodation after that. So get those bookings in.

Hope you’re looking forward to the symposium as much as I am!

The forecast is interesting! but rest assured there are plenty of paddling options for all weathers and we’ll adapt
the workshops to get the most out of whatever challenges we’re faced with. Apart from that the craic
should be good, catching up with you all on the paddling stories of 2019.

I'll post the workshop schedule later. Keep an eye here for updates.
Few logistics:

Friday
- Registration is open from 7pm Friday evening at Errigal hostel. (https://goo.gl/maps/vpZgNYhrctAw8N659)
- Eating options are limited - the nearest option is An Chuirt hotel 6km away, bar-food served til 9pm. Shop/garage next door open til 9pm.
- You can bring food/beverages to the hostel and hang out there.
- Hotel guests can checkin at the hotel before or after registration - the hotel has a list of your names. (https://goo.gl/maps/7drpvMzfkYTFixRe9)

Saturday
- breakfast 7am-9:15 for those in campers and hostel.
- breakfast in hotel from 7:30am
- Briefing in the hostel upstairs room @9:30am
- Bar open and fire lighting in Dunlewey Centre (https://goo.gl/maps/7qfTFwpJPpCWhGw16) from 6pm, dinner at 7:30pm

Bring all your own gear, kayak, paddle, safety gear and dress for October water.
There's no pool, rolling sessions will be outdoor, so come prepared - balaclava if possible, gloves, nosepeg.

Internet and phone coverage could be dodgy, so I'd suggest taking screenshots of any information you might need.

See your email for more details.
