Dingle 25/26 May 2019

Post by steven d » Tue May 07, 2019 8:29 pm

The destination for the next ISKA meet is Dingle on the weekend 25-26th May 2019. The chosen venue is a well equipped campsite called Sandy Bay 2. https://goo.gl/maps/pfrUkoEpXi7NQHKR8 The nearby town of Castlegregory has everything else you might need.

The campsite is right next to a good surfing beach. The Magharee islands are next door, some easier to land on than others. If conditions are excellent there are more islands further west -- the Blaskets -- maybe you've heard of them.

Please post up if you're coming and best to book in with the campsite yourselves, call Joe on 087 679 1692 (fixed now, there is another number on the website which is not his own).

The forecast at the moment is fairly good for Saturday with the wind increasing Sunday. I'll be down at the campsite -Sandy Bay 2- on Friday evening, maybe we can go surf which currently forecast at 3/4ft 11s. For Saturday I'm thinking of Brandon to Smerwick harbour, about 25 km of stunning cliffs with no get out for the 8 km between Sauce Creek and Brendan Creek. It is however a long shuttle so we'll need to be organised. Please post up if you intend to join, or if you'd prefer something less committing.

See you soon
Steven

That sounds smashing.

The cliffs along whats known as the 3 sisters, over to Ceann Sibéal (just South of Smerwick Harbour) would be a great sight to see too.

Some of Star Wars was filmed there.
