Hi All,

The following are the outline plans for the coming weekend.
Meeting Point: Ard East Pier L757-316. OS Sheet 44. This has plenty of parking. See Oileain 2nd Edition Page 186.(Take R340 from Oughterard, through Kilkieran, left in Carna - past post Office on right side, - check map from here, as lots of small roads.)

Not sure about camping there, for late arrivals - ideas? Maybe Finis Island beach, about 4kms travelling west from Kilkieran village, on left side.

Joining Time:
Friday: 6.30pm, on water 7.30pm to paddle over to Mac Dara's Island to camp for Friday and Saturday nights.

Saturday morning: 9.30am to be on water for 10.30am, to join rest of group at Mac Dara's Island.

So, try to pack ahead, so it's doesn't take as long when you arrive. (that's the theory anyway!)

Paddling options for the weekend are many, including the Mac Dara's, Masson, Mweenish, Insismuskerry, Birmore Islands, also CraughnaCaoile, etc to NW and to the the south, Skeardmor, etc, and many other options.

When we meet on Saturday morning, we will likely split into 2/3 trips, with a couple of Leaders each, who will share their plans, based on weather, group size and paddling preferences, distance etc.
Sunday's trip will be shorter, taking account of travelling home etc, to be decided later. Expected time back at cars: c.3pm.

Tides: Saturday: Galway HW 13.09 LW 06.33 HW 19.07. Roundstone Bay variation: +0.05.

Weather: Met Eireann currently giving windspeeds 13-17km/h NW and W for Saturday and Sunday.

Peer Paddle on Friday: a suggestion for those arriving Friday early, Peer Paddle meeting point, same place Ard East Pier, 2pm. PLease post if you are interested in this.

On the morning, You will be asked about ISKA membership, any medical conditions Leaders need to be aware of, and gear and safety check.
Thanks to our Leaders for the weekend.
Any questions? post here or contact me directly.

I won't be emailing the above info to individuals, email only if you've got a query.
Many thanks and keep talking nicely to the Weather Gods!

Margaret
