Oileáin News

Post by DaveWalsh » Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:20 pm

With the succession of a new monarch to the throne of the neighbouring island etc, Oileáin is finally capable of being described as a “present fit for a King” as my mother typically described any bronntanas that even looked like it cost more than a ten bob note back in the day, even if he was “only” a Prince in 2014 attending the Ceiliúradh and all that sort of thing.

Most recent addition 08.09.2022 to on-line version www.oileain.org is O’Boyle Island on Gweebarra River in west Donegal, near enough Lettermacaward. A certain kayaker of this parish who shall remain nameless says he is only “t’rilled” that the islet concerned is number 600, a target that has been tantalisingly out there for years, or at least that is how it may have seemed to anyone paying attention.

Query : does anyone have a workable description of a reputed massive cave system accessed from seaward near the north tip of Owey?

Reports say the kayaker is "excited and delighted" and even more t'rilled that O'Boyles island is number 600 and not number 666...🤣
